Seasoned Saints from Leesburg United Methodist, Leesburg Presbyterian and St James’ will travel to Sterling on Thursday April 6 for a very special talk and tour of the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum. Participants will gather at noon for those who wish to enjoy a brown bag lunch, fellowship, and the adjacent Claude Moore Park. At 1:00 pm Bill Harrison, President of the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum and Leesburg United Methodist Church member, will talk about Loudoun’s rich agricultural heritage, and lead an interactive tour of the Museum. We will learn how members of our churches provided tobacco, wheat and oats for what was once the most populous county in Virginia, and discover why the market changed to producing milk at award-winning dairies, raising turkeys (40,000 once raised at Morven Park), growing corn (Temple Hall Farm was once the largest producer of popcorn in the east), and raising cattle and fine horses. The tour will conclude by 2:30 pm. Admission is $4.00 for seniors. Please RSVP to Kay Gregg at email@example.com or 703-777-1124 by 5:00 pm on Monday April 3. and thanks to St. James’ parishioner Jean Brown for organizing this event. And you won’t want to miss our May gathering! On Thursday May 4, we will visit Rockland, the historic home of the Rust family, members of St. James’ for generations, with St. James’ own John Rust as our guide.
