Some of the most meaningful music composed for use in corporate worship is that written especially for the church season of Lent, including the monumental Passions and Oratorios of Bach and Handel as well as the great hymns of the Anglican tradition such as “Eternal Lord of love, behold your Church.” On Wednesdays during Lent at 12:30 pm, immediately following the 12:00 Noon Eucharist, St. James’ Director of Music Dr. Steven Cooksey leads a special program, “Reflecting on Lent Through the Lens of Music,” a musical exploration of the themes of Lent—preparation, self-examination, and repentance. The program will be held in the Fellowship Hall and will conclude by 1:45 pm. Come for any one or all of the sessions. While soup will be provided, participants are asked to bring bread or salad for four persons. Please RSVP to Kay Gregg at email@example.com or 703-777-1124 so that we can know how much soup to prepare each Wednesday.
