Men’s Service Ministry
The Men’s Service Ministry (MSM) helps men reclaim their “authentic self” through three activities:
- Spiritual Formation: Engage in the study of Holy Scripture and other texts with discussion led by group members;
- Service Projects: Offer hands-on support to our church, our civic community, and our parishioners; and
- Social Gatherings: Enhance regular opportunities for parish-wide friendship and fellowship by coordinating logistical support for these social events.
Among Spiritual Formation activities have been book studies and the Annual Men’s Retreat in November, when men participate in a three-day facilitated offsite meeting to focus on spiritual renewal.
Service Projects have included repainting the Fellowship Hall and other projects supporting the mission of the Property Committee, as well as supporting parishioners in need with services such as painting, fixing a computer problem, moving furniture, and doing odd jobs.
Social Gatherings include the annual Oktoberfest celebration in late September, and the annual Saint James’ Day celebration in late July, both held in the church parking lot.
Members of this ministry range from young married men who are new to fatherhood, to middle-aged men experiencing loss of a marriage and/or job, to those transitioning to retirement or empty-nesting.
The Men’s Service Ministry meets every Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the Lower Level of the Parish House.
